(Poems from my mother. Forever in the freedom of Christ, resting in the bosom of God. references: John 1)
Yesterday, Eddy went a fishin’–
To catch his biggest catch!
Determination in his eye;
Set upon his destination.
With rain clouds overhead,
Casting out the fishing line.
Searching for “that spot”,
Casting his eye upon the lake.
Casting his boat into the water.
Casting out the fishing line.
Casting out his wishes for that fish.
Two fishing buddies out there –
The fish and fisherman;
The Hookie and the Hooked.
Moving in the lake together,
One swam ’round, and bobbing up and down.
Braving the adverse weather,
For hours this went on!
Until finally, Eddy shivered.
In withdrawal, pulled up anchor.
Heading back for home,
without leaving his determination.
He knows He will return.
That fish has got his number…
Eddy is fisherman number ONE.
(GOTCHYA!)
Eddy took his first jet ride, heading north.
Entering in the jet, he took his seat and held
tightly to his mustered courage.
The jet took off and soared up higher than a roller coaster!
Eddy’s eyes closed he felt the rush and wished that it was over.
The stewardess passed by and asked —
“Do you want peanuts and a coke?”
Eddy sighed a great big prayer,
And asked — “Is this a joke?”
If this plane lands,
I will from here to ever after,
Walk or drive. I am a grounded man.
I will avoid at any cost, the possibility,
of being an airline disaster.
(Eddy said, God told him: to never fly again.
I asked “REALLY?!”
And he went on —
“You do what God says, or He will push the button, and kill you.)
